Team Building with Tandberg Data
Team Building event with Tandberg Data on Koh Samui, 12th November 2009.
Tandberg Data, a leading global supplier of data protection solutions traveled to Thailand for their annual team meeting conference and incentive travel trip. Tandberg invited more than 40 people from their Asia-Pacific offices, including their customers, retailers and partners for a stay at Four Seasons Resort on Koh Samui from 9th to 12th November 2009.

Making Teams was selected to be the professional team building provider to conduct a full day team building treasure hunt with photographic challenge, based on an Amazing Race format. Weeks of planning went into the preparation of this event, including meetings and telephone conferences held between Tandberg and Making Team before the last details were discussed and agreed. Finally on the day of the event, the group gathered at 9 a.m. in front of Four Seasons and were separated into five teams. The first task was to choose a team leader and a creative name for the team.
Each team leader was briefed in depth by Making Teams facilitators. The only equipment the team could use was a map of Koh Samui, a set of clues and cryptic descriptions of sights to locate, as well as a photo task for each place.

The objective was to find eight famous cultural locations around the island, answer one question for each and to take a creative team photo according to the photo task.
One of the challenges was to locate the stops on the map and carefully plan the route before leaving the hotel while at the same time not losing time on opponents. The team that communicated most efficiently, showed creativity, team work and co-operation was most likely to win the game.
The last stop was Giant Valley at the Paradise View, a lovely restaurant at 500 metres altitude, built amidst tropical rainforest. Lunch was served on a terrace overlooking the southern plains of Koh Samui with a breathtaking view to the sparkling turquoise Gulf of Thailand.

Team Scorpion arrived before 12.30 p.m. and received 10 bonus points while team Murphy arrived shortly after, and had 10 points deducted.
A delicious buffet lunch was served with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Afterwards team members enthusiastically engaged in informal debates and ad-hoc meetings.
The Crazy Garudas was the winning team with 35 points scored. The Crazy Garudas visited six of the eight sights and received 10 bonus points for reaching the last stop on time.
The final debriefing, photo competition analyisis and ending ceremony were conducted in the evening by Yanyi and Cheryl from Tandberg Data, who both acted as facilitators and supported Making Teams during this event.
